WHY MOVE TO THE WAINWRIGHT REGION?

. . . we are eastern Alberta's BEST Kept Secret!

The Wainwright region truly is a great place to live, work, & do business!

The region consists of a number of strong vibrant and progressive communities; our diversified economy has contributed to the stability of these communities, which have long experienced steady growth, a trend that is fully expected to continue into the future.

With employment based on energy, agriculture and the military, our communities tend to be young.

The region offers a great lifestyle; modern amenities, plentiful services and it's central location makes it attractive to families of all ages.

We invite you to come grow with us!

Economically, Wainwright is a thriving community that is in a rapid growth stage given the tremendous opportunities arising from the CMTC expansion-taking place at Camp Wainwright, and the demand in the oilfield. Housing starts are flourishing, additional commercial properties are being constructed in 2008 and local entrepreneurs are coming together to finance franchises and business/real estate ventures required to meet increasing demands placed upon the existing infrastructure. This heightened demand is creating a labor shortfall that is evident by the continual presence of employment ads in local newspapers.

For the sports enthusiasts the Town of Wainwright boasts a recreational facility, the Peace Memorial Multiplex (PMM) that includes two NHL size ice surfaces, rock climbing and walking track. Squash, racquetball, fitness centre, and a newly refinished swimming pool facility can be found in the adjoining Communiplex. It is important to mention that the Villages of Irma, Edgerton, & Chauvin also have their own ice rinks and hockey programs. There is also variety of other activities including an Amateur Theatre Group, martial arts clubs, dance academies, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, lacrosse, gymnastic clubs, etc that all can enjoy.

The region also boasts recreational areas within minutes of Wainwright that are very active during the summer and winter. Riverdale Mini Park and Arm Lake Recreational Area offer camping, swimming, fishing and golfing. While Clear Lake offers recreational swimming, fishing, and a public boat launch. There are also five golf courses within 50 kilometers of town including an 18 hole course on the outskirts of town.

From a community infrastructure perspective, the educational system is second to none with exceptional Public, Catholic, and Francophone alternatives.

You will also find many opportunities to become involved and active in the community through participation with numerous non-profit organizations and service clubs.

Wainwright & District is a strong vibrant community offering a great lifestyle; progressive services and its central location to urban centres makes it attractive to families.

We understand that moving to a new place is stressful and often very hard to coordinate. Its not just a matter of finding a house, but also investigating all sorts of other issues:

  • Schools, if you have children
  • Activities and events that take place in the community
  • Proximity to major centres and recreation areas
  • Job availability for a spouse
  • Re-registration of vehicles when moving from another province, lining up movers, and so on!
